Guayaba foliage (Psidium guajava L.) as a phytobiotic in the feeding of broiler chickens

In the different livestock production systems, feed represents highest percentage of investment in poultry production. Producers are constantly seeking to improve their productive parameters by using additives, among most used antibiotic growth promoters. Ecuador, many plant species can be as a source nutrients or medicinal additives. The objective this research was determine effect addition guava foliage levels on behavior broiler chickens. work carried out at "Romero" farm located "Cuatro Mangas" enclosure Quevedo - Buena Fe Road, province Los Ríos. A total 160 Broilers Cobb 500 were used, distributed completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replicates each, 8 animals experimental unit. No statistical differences found concerning between means Tukey (P≤0.05); however, benefit-cost ratio, 0.5% presented best value ($1.83), which that for each dollar invested, profit 0.83 ctvs obtained, profitability 82.67% mortality 2.5%.
